Should the mandatory helmet law in Missouri be repealed for riders over 21? Slam doesn't think so. He's voiced his opinion in this blog before and feels it's time to reiterate his stance.
Bill HB994, which is sposored by Rep. Gary Dusenerg, assumes that riders over 21 who choose not to wear a helmet are aware of the risks they are taking and would give those riders the right to decide for themselves whether or not they want to take those risks. It's passed the House with a voice vote and is headed to the Senate. What say you?

Absolutely against it. All of our insurance will increase when the insurnace companies have to pay for unnecessary injuries because a few macho guys think they are to manly to wear a helmet. When a unprotected head make contact with a hard object it is never a good thing. No matter how hard headed you are
I am 100% in favor of FREEDOM of choice. Amend the helmet law to allow anyone over 21 the right to choose for themselves.
I am an Illinois resident and generally chose to not wear a helmet and believe that having the choice is simply a basic freedom. I seldom ride into Missouri (even though I live less that 10 miles from the state line). Missouri is a beautiful state to ride and would be much more attractive to a large segment of motorcyclists if the helmet law were repealed. I have no problem with an age 21 limit as the younger riders are much more apt to push the limits of their and their bikes abilities.
I am a 13 year old from Pa. I am doing a descussion on the you choose subject for school. I strongly dissagree with the subject. People are just putting themselves in danger. Its amazeing how much little things in life such as a helmet could help so much, even save a life. Ive learned to prize life, and I would like to preserve the life I have, even If I have to be a little less moncho.
Let us choose. Texas has the right idea, extra insurance or a helmet.
Then people who dont ride are not allowed an opinion, not that they should be able to decide for us in the first place.
do some research before you start talking about insurance. its hard to believe but on average insurance bills are higher for those who wear helmets it gives some a false sense of security. oh yeah when was the last time insurance dropped for a state that adopted a helmet law. how about we make smoking and mcdonalds illegal for more deaths occur from cancer and obesity than motorcycle crashes.
Against helmet repeal!! I have known of brain injury from falling over on stopped bikes. If you want to know whats its like, get on your knees and bounce your head on the concrete. Save an idiot today, vote no to FREEDOM OF CHOICE!
